We came across this place while walking in the Mosaic District. My husband, a whiskey lover, wanted to check out this place, so we went in. As soon as I entered, the the huge wall of liquor bottles behind the bar was the first thing to catch my eye. It's quite impressive! This place is very clean and dimly lit, which perfectly adds to the ambience. I think it is also a good spot for a date.
The menu is quite impressive as well, stretching to several pages with wide selection of liquors. I learned that there's more to whiskey than Johnnie Walker lol (my husband would be quite disappointed to hear that). The service is quick and friendly. I ordered a gin martini and discovered my favorite gin - Bombay Sapphire. My husband and brother also enjoyed their whiskeys. It's a high-end whiskey bar, so I felt a little under-dressed, but I still didn't feel out of place. We only stopped by for one quick drink, but I would love to come back to try more drinks. -

Came here to grab a drink while waiting for a table at another restaurant. As soon as we walked in, there was a strange dirty water type of smell? Not sure if it was someone's food smell mixed with something else, but it was unpleasant to say the least. We were seated in a booth, and our server attended to us promptly, however after the initial order, our server's presence was spotty.
The interior is very cute. The way all the bottles were arranged along the wall was very aesthetically pleasing.
We all ordered a drink, and they were.... not great. It lacked flavor/alcohol content (or it seemed like they used the wrong alcohol for the wrong drink. You should know if there is tequila in your drink..). For the price we paid for each drink, it should not have been that bad.
Overall, not the best experience. -

I would not recommend MacMillan for food. Some of the lamb skewers were very tough and couldn't be chewed. We sent them back. I ordered the hamburger to be done medium and it came out bloody rare.
I replaced the hamburger with the bangers and mash which were very good.
The whisky menu is quite extensive. My wife's old fashioned was very good and the wine list while limited had some very good choices. The only problem was that the drink service was extremely slow. Like 15-20 to get drinks. Our appetizer came out before the drinks.
The staff was pleasant and friendly and they discounted for the appetizer.
This would be a good place to go for an after dinner drink or a happy hour, but wasn't impressed with dinner. -

I would go 6 stars!
I have visited many whiskey bars and this one is one of the best.
Their selection is outstanding. I am a Scotch lover and the selection of Scotch here is top notch. They have pre-set Scotch and whiskey flights that really cover a nice range.
They have a good menu which is truly nice, because many bars of this type don't have real food.
They have tablets available so you can get a more in-depth understanding of the different spirits. I thought this was a great idea.
The place is very clean and the staff is friendly.
The location is great with many shops and stores surrounding the bar, so there is a lot to do for a family that doesn't all want to hit the bar. Free parking on the street and in the nearby parking structure.
So many positives with this place it is a must try. -

So far, a good opening for MacMillan Whisky Room. The drinks were good, atmosphere was nice, and service was friendly. I would come back again for sure.
I expected the place to have more of a Scottish theme, given the name. And there is a wide selection of scotch and whisky/whiskey. But the theme isn't super strong. There are a few dishes from the UK and Ireland, but neither the drinks nor the food are in a specific vein.
There's a full bar, plus a number of signature drinks. They also offer tasting flights. The mixed drinks take a bit of time. Our first round arrived after our appetizer did. That said, they were generally good. The sazerac didn't have much bite to it, and the whisky sour tasted quite a bit like a creamsicle, but the old fashioned was delightfully citrusy.
We ordered sliders for an appetizer, and while they were simple, they were also freshly made and delicious. The fish and chips entree was excellent, with crisp, flaky fish. The steak and Guinness pie was tomato-y, which was not expected, but it was very nice.
The server was friendly and responsive. And the manager came around just to check that everything was going well (and to refill our water, which comes in chilled carafes). The place was a bit noisy, and the music maybe a little too quiet to drown out the louder voices, but overall, it was a very pleasant experience. It's great to have another dining option in Mosaic.
